Cut Down on Catalog ClutterEach year, 19 billion catalogs are mailed to American consumers. If your mailbox is stuffed with catalogs you never open, a new free service can clear out the clutter. Catalogchoice.org lets you select the catalogs you don't want to receive and within 10 weeks, your mailbox will be empty of unwanted catalogs. An emptier mailbox means less pollution, less waste and less of the emissions that cause global warming. Over 53 million trees are consumed each year to produce paper catalogs. The production of all those catalogs results in 56 billion gallons of wastewater. And when all those catalogs are thrown out it's approximately 4.1 million tons of waste, equal to the annual waste of 2 million households. Rather than spend a morning calling companies and asking to be removed from their mailing lists, go to catalogchoice.org and spend 10 minutes selecting the catalogs you don't want to receive. Catalog Choice will contact the merchants for you and they'll stop sending you catalogs you don't want! NRDC and its partners in the Catalog Choice Task Force launched Catalog Choice to empty your mailbox, save resources and promote sustainable industry practices. Catalog Choice will not sell, rent or otherwise share your contact details with anyone.
When you see an empty mailbox, you'll know you've done your part to reduce global warming, waste and deforestation!
1. 11/30/2007 09:42:16 AM I had no idea how many catalogs I was getting until I went through the list. This service is great! Since I order everything online anyway, why waste all that paper! THANKS! 2. 12/26/2007 11:00:51 AM What a boon! Thank you for this service. I feel like I am actually doing something proactive for the environment - saving some trees - while minimizing my irritating junk mail. Plus it is really easy to do!! New Comment |
